Is Fleece Blanket warm enough?

Is Fleece Blanket warm enough?

Did you know that your sheets could be keeping you from a great night's sleep? We buy our bedding based on the thread count, color, or size but the type of fabric that your sheets are made out of is just as important. If you are constantly hot when you sleep (or freezing) then you may want to check out your bedding and see if they are the culprit in robbing you of precious sleep.

What’s The Big Deal With Sheets?

It has been proven that we sleep better when we go to bed in a cool environment, 65ºF to be exact. Our body temperature shifts the deeper into sleep we get, which can leave us overheated at midnight. If your body's heat is too high, then you are bound to be waking up trying to kick the sheets off. So to keep things cool and have your body be the ideal temperature as you sleep, look into what your sheets are made out of. Certain materials are more breathable than others and can play a large part in how warm or cold we are while we dream.

Fabric For Hot Sleepers

Constantly hot in the middle of the night? Check out these four fabrics that will not only keep you cool at night but also give you a better night's sleep.

Cotton

The experts have spoken and already researched for us and they all agree that sheets made from natural fibers are the best sheets for sweaty sleepers and constant overheaters. This means when you are looking for new bedding, look for sheets that are made out of cotton or linen for the best air circulation.

Cotton sheets are the most breathable based on the weave of the fabric which makes percale cotton the most breathable. For sleepers that tend to sweat, the more air circulation — the better night's sleep you will get. The best part is that finding cotton sheets is relatively easy to find, so you have no excuse not to sleep well.

Linen

Linen sheets, like cotton, is the luxurious fabric made from natural fibers. The downside of linen sheets is that you may never want to get out of bed again because they are so ridiculously comfortable! Use these sheets and watch how you aren’t waking up at 1 am having to put one leg out of the covers because your body temperature will stay wonderfully consistent.

Lyocell (Tencel)

Lyocell is a naturally derived fabric that can also be really helpful in cooling you down in the middle of the night. This fabric is made from eucalyptus trees and is lightweight, soft as butter, and very breathable. Oh — did we mention it is absurdly soft?

Bamboo

Bamboo sheets are held in high esteem and for good reason. These lightweight, soft, and highly breathable sheets are a dream to sleep on. Not only will they cool you down but they are also hypoallergenic, eco-friendly, and will keep you cool as an ice cube. If you want longevity in your sheets, bamboo sheets have also been said to last longer than cotton sheets.

Fabric For Cold Sleepers

Having trouble staying warm at night? Don’t worry, we have you covered with these fabrics that are sure to keep you toasty.

Fleece / Polar Fleece / Micro-fleece

Fleece is considered one of the best materials for cold weather. If you tend to freeze at night, then invest in some fleece sheets like our Food Blankets. Our Food Blankets are made out of premium fleece fabric that helps insulate your body heat so you can stay cozy all night, with no risk of overheating due to its soft breathability.

Our Food Blankets offer much more than a regular fleece blanket. Choose from delicious designs like a pizza blanket, donut blanket or human burrito blanket - all with an extra snug fit and an optional foot pouch to keep your toes extra toasty!

Flannel

Flannel sheets are thick, durable, and are the ultimate level of cozy. These ridiculously soft sheets will make you want to melt to sleep as soon as you get into bed. Flannel is an excellent insulator for keeping you warm throughout the night which is also why we chose flannel for our novelty blankets. Our warm and soft donut, tortilla, and pizza blankets will keep you toasty in bed, on the patio, or on the couch.

Wool

Matches the extreme cold with some extreme warmth! Wool bedding is one of the best choices for deeper, more restful sleep for those sleepers that tend to get chilly. Wool sheets stay more dry than cotton and are great for people who sweat while they sleep (thank you, moisture-wicking). As for the itch, if your sheets are itchy then they aren’t of high quality. Give those sheets a good feel before you buy them.

Sleeping should be enjoyable no matter the room temperature! Our food blankets are just the thing to make sure you snooze in comfort. But keep in mind that proper cleaning is essential for maintaining quality; check out our helpful guide on Washing Your Food Blanket.
